Giving Back has been funded to provide Broughty Ferry with a Youth Employability Programme for 2025. We completed a pilot programme last year with 3 young people. We will be looking to reconnect with The Grove Academy and the community to start the programme again shortly.

Welcome and Introduction

The Broughty Ferry Employability Programme was set up to allow youths with diagnosis of mental health or neurodivergence the availability for both employability skills and support. We use star model support plans, looking at the youths holistically and developing links to training and developing confidence, coping mechanism and strategies to support them on their journey to employment. This could be barista training, mental health training, breathing techniques, grounding etc. The charity itself has a Mental health nurse who works with the Young people on a 1-1 basis looking at their personal development and progression pathways. Sakura a community café when completed will enable a base for the young people with access to further support and employment skills.

Neurodivergent support

The Peer worker, Graphic designer and young people are designing tools to help children and youths with the challenges of life . This is based on lived experience and we are hopeful they will be ready later in the year. They are also looking to set up a map of what is available in the area for young people who are nerodivergant. If you are a service, group, charity or CIC that support children and young people who are neurodivergant please contact harvey@givingbackdundee.com to be added to the Road map.

Community connections.

The young people are excited for the next summer activates and are out and about looking for new sports coaches and fitness instructors to engage in the event this year.
