Charity Mission and Values

  • Giving Back recognises the differences and barriers to community information. We strive to get Broughty Ferry talking about all the amazing things that are going on and give a platform for charities, community groups, churches and schools to advertise their project, activity or group. This would give the community a space to find all the information they need. We plan to hand out flyers in the area with this information to enable access to for all.

  • Giving Back provides means for individuals to transform their community positively and to help create a better future through community connections and information. We also want to empower the community of Broughty Ferry and individuals by giving access to a safe space to connect and have quality family time while helping others in the process. We expand on this by assisting the community with mental health, substance use, benefits advice and advocacy through our other projects. By empowering others to have the right access to advice, the community will grow stronger and this will benefit everyone.

  • We are very passionate about the area and the community itself. The founder was born in the area and has developed and provided community support for many years across Dundee and is now bringing this passion back to her own community. We are aware of the wide demographic of people living in the area and this project aims to be accessible to everyone.

  • Giving Back and its projects collaborate with other services around Dundee to provide the right support and advice for the community. We are working with Scottish Association for Mental Health to develop a community café in Dawson park. This will enable community members to give back through buying coffees, lunches etc but will also provide a space for community members to access support and advice. The project will also provide groups and 1-1 appointments, working with other services, community groups and charities.

  • Giving Back is a Charity that is looking for new innovative ways to support its community and believes in using a community led approach. We plan to have community members on our board and reach out to the community for feedback on new ideas. This is key to the success of the project.

  • Giving Back is looking for a more sustainable approach to the charity. In this climate, charities are struggling to get funding and are either reducing in size, reducing their delivery or in some cases closing. Our projects are coming up with ways to develop a sustainable charity by developing income streams to pay for staff, buildings, projects and other areas.
